Cover Analysis

This is the front cover of a magazine for secondary school teachers.
denotation - The image shows a secondary school boy raising his hand, as if he is asking a question. There are blocks of text around the boy and also at the top of the page in different colours.
connotation- The boy in the school uniform raising his hand suggest that a question has been raised that will be answered within the magazine article such as do boys and girls learn differently. This technique draws in the audience as they want to know the answer of the question. The title at the top of the page is designed well because it instantly lets the target audience know that is for secondary school teachers.

Language-the language used in the magazine page is kind of bold letters to attract readers. Thelanguage used in the subtitles is informal and asks the question do boys and girls learn differently, this question could create a big talking point.

Ideology- the text in the front is clear and easy to understand so there will be no crossed messages when people read it.
The front cover also respects peoples views and equalities such as

Institution- the production of this magazine is controlled by a company called children, schools and families.

Audiences-The audience for this magazine is exclusivly for secondary school teachers, this is shown by the title Secondary Teachers.

Representation- the student on the front cover of the magazine represrents that it is a school based magazine. this is obvious because he is wearing a school uniform and is raising his hand as if he was trying to awnser a question.
